Royal Henley Gives Back

February 24, 2021
We kicked off 2021 by donating 54 winter toques to local people in need. Between our Lifestyle Assistant Lori-Ann and our residents they made these toques by knitting loom during the past few months. To help pass the time and keep their minds busy they spent free time creating these warm, vibrant winter toques for a not-for-profit organization called “Working the Streets Niagara” who helps local homeless people. Pastor Bill DeGuire runs this organization and we have been working with him for 4 years to give back to our community. Thank you to our resident’s family members who donated yarn and for helping us surpass our goal!
On top of the 54 toques, a staff member’s mother-in-law also added to this project by knitting 17 pairs of socks and 12 pairs of mittens for those in need. We are very lucky to be amongst talented people who share the passion for giving back to our community!
We are already onto our next project to knit more hats and sleeping mats. If anyone has “Charisma” bulky yarn number 5 they would like to donate that would be more than appreciated!
